Family Training Program

What is the Purpose of this Study?
Most substance abuse treatment programs will occasionally receive phone calls from people inquiring about treatment for a loved one with a drug or alcohol problem. Sometimes they want information about how they can get their loved one help, when in fact, the person with the drug use problem is not interested in treatment. Unfortunately, these concerned family members and significant others are often turned away. Most treatment programs do not offer (and cannot bill for) services for family members when the person with the drug abuse problem is not in treatment.

The purpose of the TRI Family Training Program is to examine training programs for family members and concerned significant others of drug and/or alcohol users. We hope that research in this area will lead to better interventions that are more widely available to family members and caring significant others.
